A Surprising Wattercolour

Brassai, professional name of Gyula Halasz (1899-1984), French photographer, born in Brassov, Romania, best known for his studies of Paris by night. His first photographs, published in book form in 1933, include scenes of Parisian streets, bridges, and tourists.
This is one of his few watercolours, made during his youth.

The text further down, from the back of the painting, belongs to his father. It is a dedication to Mrs Manton Ianosne, and is dated 1950 May 31, in Brassov. This is the way the painting arrived till us.
